One of the biggest challenges for us this season if not the worst has to be the amount of goose grass growth we have on the golf course this year. Goose grass will start to show itself in the start of the summer and mainly thrives in highly compacted areas such as the edges of cart paths. This year has been especially bad for goose grass growth in our greens (as seen in the above picture). We do our best to manage this by manually picking the goose grass out by hand. To effectively manage this weed it is best to spray it early with a herbicide while it is young or use a pre-emergence herbicide before the time goose grass will start to emerge. To manage goose grass in our roughs we will spray a herbicide call acclaim. At the high rate it has seemed to suppress the goose grass pretty well.
