One of the biggest issues we have if not the biggest issue we have on the golf course is the drainage in our bunkers. After heavy rains or any rain event where we receive .75" or more rain, we are more than likely pumping water out our bunkers. Having to do this wastes many important man hours in the morning where we could be accomplishing other task around the golf course.
One of our projects this winter is to go around and fix the drainage in some of our problematic bunkers that hold greats amount of water and drain very slow if not at all. We are doing this by digging around all drain openings and clearing out any debris that is preventing water from draining out. We then use a hose to flush water throughout the drain pipes and then backfill with pea gravel and new sand.
